Perfect pistes

Originally known as the Espace Killy, after the star of France’s 1968 winter Olympic team, the Tignes / Val d’Isere ski area really is worthy of Olympians. The world’s best skiers gather here every year and it’s played host to the World Ski Championships and Olympic events in the Albertville winter games. Legendary slopes like the Face de Bellevarde, and off piste areas like the Grand Vallon, as well as marked ski touring routes, offer challenging yet exhilarating skiing.

From Le Fornet, a shortish climb from the glacier takes you up to a ridge from where you can descend off-piste all the way down a giant powder bowl to the old village of Bonneval before heading back to Val by helicopter.

If you like more relaxed skiing, then the ski area’s Ski Tranquille zones are perfect for those who want to take their time carving perfect turns and appreciating the stillness of the mountains, as well as families and beginners looking for gentler slopes.

Exceptional Restaurants

Val d’Isere has no shortage of restaurants in exceptional settings and those at altitude really do stand out. La Cucùcina‘s high ceilings, huge windows with views towards Mont Blanc, and striking décor are the perfect setting for this restaurant’s Franco-Italian inspired cuisine. The restaurant’s style nods to the ateliers of Italian Renaissance artists. The Refuge de Solaise was a lift station before it was transformed into a stunning hotel, the highest in the Alps. Its upscale restaurant, Gigi Val d’Isere, joins a family that has branches in Paris and Saint Tropez. The interior exudes muted 70s style, but you’ll be drawn to the views given preeminence by huge floor to ceiling windows. There’s a tempting cocktail menu too. Back in the village, Michelin starred La Table de l’Ours is a must, the wine list highlights some superb local Savoie vintages. Your concierge can arrange table reservations at Val d’Isere’s finest restaurants.

Beyond Skiing

Val d’Isere’s energy is reflected in the range of unique experiences this special resort offers visitors. If you’ve ever dreamed of floating on ice, then this is the place to try it. It’s a surprisingly relaxing, sensory experience contemplating the mountains whilst floating on the crystal-clear waters of the frozen Ouillette lake. You can also try your hand at ice driving on a dedicated circuit or experience the slopes at night on an electric Fat Bike adventure under the stars. For a truly memorable experience, end your ski day with a trip in a piste basher, you’ll head up to the Tommeuse plateau for an aperitif admiring the view as the sun sets. The cab is equipped with Bluetooth so you can choose your music to create the exact atmosphere you want. Your imagination is truly the only limit, our team can coordinate unique experiences just for your party.
